Youth

This year at The Way Youth, our theme comes from Jesus’ words in Matthew 5:13: “You are the salt of the earth. ”Throughout the year, we’ll keep coming back to what it means to be the salt of the earth. We want our youth to understand that following Christ should shape the way they live, serve, speak, and treat others.

Our mission at The Way Youth is to make young disciples of Jesus who know Him, follow Him, and live as the salt of the earth. We want to provide a place where students can have fun, build genuine friendships, learn the Bible, ask questions, worship together, serve others, and be challenged to grow as faithful disciples of Jesus.

What Is The Way Youth?

The Way Youth is LMBC’s youth ministry for students in Grades 7–12, normally meeting Wednesday evenings from 7:00–9:00 PM at the church. Throughout the year, we will also have some Friday events together with the youth group from Linden Alliance Church.

A typical youth night includes worship, Bible teaching, Bible trivia and challenges, small groups, snacks or a meal, and lots of games. Some weeks may also include service projects, special events, or something completely different.

We want Wednesday night to be something students genuinely look forward to all week—a place to laugh, engage, make friends, and have a ton of fun while also being challenged to know Jesus and take their faith seriously.

Expectations for Youth

We want The Way Youth to be a place where everyone is welcomed, respected, and able to participate safely. Our expectations can be summed up in one word: respect.

Students are expected to respect their leaders, other students, the church building and property, and the different parts of our evening together. Questions and honest conversations about faith are always welcome. Students are not expected to pretend to believe something they don’t; however, deliberately disrupting or mocking prayer, worship, Bible teaching, or others who are participating will not be accepted.

Bullying, harassment, fighting, intentionally damaging property, or repeated disrespect toward leaders or other youth will not be tolerated. Depending on the situation, a student may be removed from an activity, have their parent or guardian contacted, or be asked to leave the event.

Phones are not permitted for personal use during youth. Students may have a phone with them, but it must remain put away while inside the church. If a student needs to contact a parent or guardian or make an important call, they can speak with a leader and step out to do so.

These expectations are meant to champion the fun atmosphere of youth. They help us create an environment where everyone can participate, have an awesome time, build friendships, and grow together.
